Staple splice systems use solid plate fasteners with preset staples that create permanent mechanical belt connections. Cold-rolled steel plates provide uniform mechanical properties and increased tensile strength.
The installation process compresses the plate while driving and folding staples through both belt ends in a single operation. A hinge pin inserted through loops on each plate completes the finished connection, allowing the belt to flex around pulleys.

Choose an installation method based on splice volume, available infrastructure, and portability requirements. All methods use identical fasteners and produce equivalent splice quality.
Measure your belt thickness after skiving (if countersunk installation is required). Staple systems accommodate belts from 1/4" to 25/32", depending on the fastener size selected.
If your application requires countersunk fasteners, remove a portion of the belt cover material before measuring. The skived belt thickness determines fastener size selection.
Standard and long (-L) versions within each size category provide different staple lengths for optimal penetration across varying thickness ranges within the same tension rating.
The minimum pulley diameter specification prevents excessive hinge stress and premature fastener wear. Measure the smallest pulley in your system where the belt makes at least a 90° wrap.
Staple systems require larger pulleys than lighter-duty fastening options. For self-cleaning wing-type pulleys, subtract 20% from the overall diameter to calculate the effective minimum diameter. Never install fasteners on pulleys smaller than specified.
Match the fastener rating to your belt's rated strength, measured in pounds per inch of width (PIW) or kN/m. The fastener rating must equal or exceed the belt rating to prevent splice failure under load.
Staple systems provide ratings from 800–2000 PIW.

Belts requiring skiving: Systems accommodate countersunk installations after cover removal

Select hinge pin material based on application: bare armored cable for heavy-duty mining, nylon-covered armored cable for dry conditions with pin migration concerns, stainless armored cable for corrosive or wet environments.

Cold-rolled steel plates with pre-inserted staples that compress and fold during installation. Plates are cut to length for standard belt widths (40"–72") in both steel and stainless steel materials. Each size is available in standard and long (-L) versions to accommodate different belt thickness ranges. Fastener packages contain enough plate strips to complete one splice at the specified belt width.
Material options:
Steel plates: Standard galvanized steel provides rust and corrosion protection for most industrial applications
Stainless steel plates: 300 series stainless steel for superior corrosion resistance in chemical plants, wet mine conditions, marine environments, and food processing operations
Bare armored cable pins (XAC): Heavy-duty, long-wearing pins for underground mining and demanding industrial applications. Armor wrapping protects interior wires from abrasion and impact damage.
Nylon-covered armored cable pins (XNAC): Combines armored steel core with smooth nylon covering for extended service life in dry conditions. Covering prevents pin migration during operation. Not recommended for wet or highly abrasive environments where nylon will degrade.
Bare armored stainless cable pins (XACS): Stainless steel construction provides maximum corrosion resistance for wet applications, chemical exposure, salt environments, and food-grade facilities.
Hinge pin retaining collars: Prevent pin migration through knurled point screws with self-locking nylon patches. Recommended for all installations to secure hinge pins during operation.
Hinge pins are ordered separately from fastener plates. Pin diameter and length must match the fastener size selected (XP3, XP5, XP7, or XP8).
