Various alligator fastening system types for different conveyor belt applications.
Hinged continuous-tooth lacing design provides low-profile splices with uniform tension distribution across belt width. Lacing fasteners install into both belt ends and join with a hinge pin that allows the conveyor belt to flex around pulleys. The one-piece fastener strip keeps loose pieces from working themselves out of the belt and into the conveyed product.

Measure your belt thickness, including top and bottom covers. Alligator systems accommodate belts from 1/16" to 1/2".
Alligator lacing handles the widest belt thickness range (up to 1/2"). Alligator staple systems work best with thinner belts (1/16"–1/4"). Alligator rivet systems handle high-abuse applications with belt thickness from 3/16"–1/4".
The minimum pulley diameter specification prevents excessive hinge stress and premature fastener wear. Alligator staple systems accommodate pulleys as small as 2". Alligator lacing systems range from 1"–14" minimum pulley diameter. Never install fasteners on pulleys smaller than specified.
Match the fastener rating to your belt's rated strength, measured in pounds per inch of width (PIW). The fastener rating should equal or exceed the belt rating to prevent splice failure under load.

Alligator staple systems provide the fastest installation with one-piece strips and pre-inserted staples. Ready Set installation tools enable rapid field repairs, typically completing splices in 30–60 minutes.
Alligator lacing systems require hammer installation of continuous-tooth lacing and hinge pin insertion. Installation time ranges from 45–90 minutes.
Alligator rivet systems use rivet-based fastening with hammer or power driver installation. Installation time ranges from 60–120 minutes.

Alligator splice kits include fastener strips or lacing for completing the splice based on your belt width and chosen material. Kit contents and quantities vary by system type and belt specifications.
Alligator lacing systems: Corrugated hinge pins or nylon hinge pins that join the two lacing strips together, allowing the belt to flex around pulleys. Pin diameter and length are specified by the lacing size. Lugs on the hinge pin engage lacing loops, reducing the possibility of hinge pin migration.
Alligator staple systems: Pre-inserted staples in one-piece fastener strips eliminate separate fastener installation.
Alligator rivet systems: Rivet pins with retaining washers for mechanical attachment through belt material.
Installation gauge pins with clips hold lacing firmly and squarely against the belt during installation to get a straight splice. Recommended clip spacing: 3 clips per 12" of belt width.
