Wash plant conveyors built for wet, abrasive conditions

Wash plant conveyors built for wet, abrasive conditions

Fluent builds the conveyors that move material into, through, and out of a wash plant: feed conveyors, transfer conveyors, dewatering discharge, and stockpiling. Engineered to your material, moisture load, and plant layout to hold throughput and shrug off the abrasion that wet aggregate and recyclables put on a belt.

Our wash plant conveyors

A wash plant includes several transfer points that utilize different conveyors. We match the conveyor to the job to maximize your operational efficiency.

Trough Idler Conveyors

Trough idler conveyors are the workhorse for sand, gravel, and recycled aggregate coming off a screen or sand screw. A troughed profile cradles loose wet material and keeps it centered on a long incline to the stockpile, maximizing bulk material throughput without rollback or spillage.

Where conveyors fit in a wash plant

Each transfer point has specific material conditions that drive conveyor type, belt type, and frame duty. We design conveyors for the following stages of your process:

How we engineer for wet and abrasive material

Wet, gritty material is hard on a conveyor. We design conveyors around the conditions your plant runs:

Belt and idler selection:

Belt compound and idler type are matched to abrasion, moisture, and lump size so the wear surface lasts; wet idler seals keep water and fines out of the bearing.

Carryback control

Wet sand and sticky fines cling to the return side and pile up under the conveyor, so we spec belt scrapers and skirting sized to the material.

Incline and load depth

Angle, belt width, and speed are set so wet material climbs without rollback and the belt isn't overloaded at the loading zone.

Corrosion resistance

Frames and components are built and coated for constant water exposure, with outdoor-rated options for plants that run in the open.

Guarding and safety

Guards, pull cords, and e-stops are positioned for access along the run and configured to support OSHA compliance.

Custom features for wash plants

Every wash plant conveyor is engineered to spec. We integrate the features and equipment that keep wet material moving and the line serviceable:

Custom features for wash plants

Transition hoppers: Custom infeed and discharge hoppers matched to your screen, washer, or stacker geometry.

Belt scrapers and wipers: Primary and secondary scrapers to clear carryback before it builds up under the return.

Sealed skirting: Edge skirting at loading and transfer zones to contain wet fines and control spillage.

Impact beds: Cushioned impact beds at feed points to absorb the shock of heavy, abrasive material.

Wet-duty idlers and seals: Wet idler seals and corrosion-resistant rollers rated for continuous water exposure.

Chutes: Custom steel chutes to direct discharge between equipment and into stockpiles or bins.

Drives matched to load: Dodge, Nord, and SEW drives sized to application torque, with VFDs for variable feed control.

Control panels: UL 508A-built panels with PLC and HMI control for plant integration.

Platforms and access: Steel catwalks, operator platforms, and stairs for safe maintenance access along the run.

Weighing systems: Belt scales and weighing systems for in-line throughput monitoring.

Layouts we build into your facility

Loading method, plant type, and building constraints set the layout. We engineer to the pit, equipment, and footprint you already run:
