Replacement hinged steel belts for Fluent roller chain conveyors and OEM equipment. Our most flexible metal belt for recycling, scrap metal, and mixed solid waste applications.

Hinged steel belts are the most flexible chain belt we make. The piano-hinged pan design forms a continuous conveying surface that articulates through incline, decline, and nose-over configurations while carrying heavy loads, bulky material, and smaller loose items on the same belt. It's the most common metal conveyor belt type and the general-purpose workhorse of roller chain systems.
Hinged steel sits between apron pan and Z-pan in the metal belt lineup. Apron pan belts outperform hinged steel on high-impact infeed applications. Z-pan belts outperform it on steep inclines with loose material thanks to their troughed geometry. For most flat and inclined heavy-duty conveying, hinged steel is the right call.
Hinged steel handles ferrous and non-ferrous metal recycling, sheared scrap, mixed solid waste, and refuse (nearly all heavy-duty applications with less than 10% glass shards). Higher glass content works the hinge joints and fouls the pan intersections; for glass-heavy streams, consider Z-pan or a different belt family entirely.
Hinged steel is compatible with our Medium-Duty roller chain conveyors and Heavy-Duty roller chain conveyors. It is not compatible with Extreme Heavy-Duty (X-HD) roller chain conveyors.
