Within 10 feet of designated work stations per ASME B20.1
At loading and unloading zones where personnel interact with moving materials

At conveyor transfer stations where materials move between conveyors
Near baler infeed points and shredder feed areas
At recycling sort stations where multiple conveyors converge
Adjacent to screening equipment, trommels, and other integrated machinery

Mushroom head E-stops should be spaced at intervals not exceeding 100 feet along conveyor runs in restricted access areas per ASME B20.1 guidelines. Radial stacker conveyors require E-stops at the pivot point and along elevated sections. Tumble-back conveyors require placement near the discharge to prevent material rollback during emergency stops.
