Flat idlers

Belt width determines idler roll length. Standard widths include 18, 24, 30, 36, 42, 48, 60, 72, 84, and 96 inches. Flat idler conveyors accommodate belt widths up to 120 inches for specialized applications.

Calculate the required CEMA class (B, C, D, E, or F) based on belt width, material density, belt speed, and conveyor length. Flat belt conveyors handling light unit loads typically require Class B or C ratings, while higher-throughput package handling systems may need Class D or higher.

Standard roll diameters range from 4 to 8 inches, depending on CEMA class and application requirements.

Single-roll flat idlers suit most standard belts (up to approximately 48 inches). Multi-roll configurations are necessary for wider belts or applications requiring enhanced support.

Note whether your existing carrying idlers use standard top mount (conventional bracket mounting) or channel inset mounting. Channel inset frames provide low-profile installation for clearance-restricted applications. Verify that frame dimensions and bolt patterns match your existing conveyor structure.

Match bearing type and seal configuration to your operating environment.

Steel rolls are the standard for general-duty applications. Choose rubber-lagged rolls for sticky materials, wet processing and corrosive environments, noise-sensitive facilities, or high-speed installations.
