Fluent supplies CEMA-rated unequal troughing idlers for our conveyors and as drop-in replacements for existing installations. Steel and rubber disc configurations available for picking, sorting, and feeding applications.
We offer steel and rubber unequal troughing carrying idlers to match different operating environments and applications.

General-duty configurations in CEMA Classes B—F. Standard or impact versions available.
Impact absorption and material shedding in loading zones. Resists chemical deterioration in harsh environments.
optimized material control.

Unequal troughing idlers are components on many conveyor types. See our picking idlers page for idler configurations featuring low-height frames and enhanced belt accessibility for manual sortation conveyors and picking applications.
Use one long center roll with two shorter wing rolls. This creates a shallow trough that spreads material flat for picking operations. Since the center roll carries most of the load, unequal idlers have a lower carrying capacity than equal troughing idlers of the same CEMA class.

Use three equal-length rolls to form deeper troughs that contain loose material for bulk transport.

Belt width, material characteristics, manual access frequency, and clearance restrictions determine which trough angle you should choose.
20° trough angle: Flattest profile. Maximum material access for picking operations. Lowest height. Best for feeding screens or manual sortation.
35° trough angle: Better side containment while maintaining accessibility. Use when material flow requires more support or spillage control.
45° trough angle: Steepest profile provides superior edge retention for high-volume bulk handling and prevents spillage on high-speed or inclined conveyors.

You can provide the brand and part number of the unequal troughing idler you're replacing to get a match. If that's not an option, follow these steps to identify the right unequal troughing idler for your conveyor application:
When in doubt, contact Fluent with photos of your existing idlers, belt width, and application details. Our engineering team can verify specifications and recommend an unequal troughing idler configuration for your conveyor system.

Fluent idlers feature rollers equipped with industry-leading seals on all CEMA configurations.

Reinforced barriers for crushing, screening, and dusty aggregate handling
We supply preconfigured idler units or individual replacement rollers as needed.
Fluent manufactures belt conveyor systems that rely on unequal troughing idlers for reliable operation. We supply all replacement unequal troughing idlers needed to support these conveyor types:
We provide ongoing support for all Fluent conveyors, including replacement idlers, technical guidance, and maintenance recommendations to keep your systems running smoothly.
