Fluent supplies CEMA-rated conveyor idlers with application-specific seal configurations for our conveyors and general replacement. Seal selection is matched to your operating environment, including wet, dry, eco, or severe-duty.
A generic seal can survive a clean, stable environment like a distribution center. In aggregate, recycling, wash plant, mining, and bulk material handling applications, idler seals need to withstand adverse environments.
Mismatched seals allow contaminants to reach the bearing. As contamination accumulates inside the bearing cavity, roll resistance increases. The downstream effects include unplanned downtime, accelerated belt wear, and higher replacement part costs. Match the seal configuration to the dominant site condition for best performance.
Fluent idlers are available in four application-specific seal configurations. Each targets a distinct set of operating conditions.
Wet idler seals are for applications where water is the dominant threat to your bearings. A double contact seal design provides reinforced defense against moisture penetration, targeting applications that involve wet processing, frequent washdowns, or direct water exposure, such as sand and gravel wash plants, aggregate rinse operations, and dredging. Standard seals in these environments allow moisture to migrate into the bearing cavity over time, which accelerates corrosion and abrasive wear. The wet seal configuration adds a contact layer specifically positioned to block that ingress path.
Best for: wash plant conveyors, aggregate processing lines with water-based separation, dredge discharge conveyors, and any system subjected to routine hose-downs.

Seal mismatch doesn't produce immediate failure. The bearing degrades faster than it should. The following symptoms suggest the current seal configuration is not suited to the operating environment:
Any of these symptoms on a conveyor running in wet, dusty, or abrasive conditions warrants a review of the current seal specification.
Idler seals are not sold or installed as standalone components. They are shipped with a specific seal set installed. If you notice any of the following issues, the correct action is to replace the idler roll or the full idler assembly, not to attempt a seal replacement. Replace the idler or roll when:
