Fluent supplies secondary belt scrapers that remove residual carryback after the head pulley. Belt widths 12"–96", speeds up to 1500 fpm. Polyurethane and tungsten carbide blades available.
High-performance primary belt cleaner for efficient material removal.
Segmented urethane or carbide-tipped blades with manual or spring tensioning. General-purpose design handles most dry materials at moderate speeds. Cartridge or pin-based blade replacement for routine maintenance.

Add a secondary scraper when primary cleaning cannot remove enough carryback. Most conveyors benefit from pairing primary and secondary cleaners to achieve 90–95% total carryback removal compared to 60–70% from primary scrapers alone.
Add a secondary cleaner if:
Carryback removal must exceed 90%
Material is sticky, wet, or creates dust problems
Cleanup labor costs justify additional equipment investment
Return idler or belt damage occurs from material accumulation
Product contamination from carryback creates quality issues
Multiple secondary cleaners can be staged along the return path for maximum removal in extreme applications. Some limited-duty installations use secondary cleaners as standalone solutions on portable conveyors, stackers, and chute-fed systems where full primary + secondary systems prove uneconomical.
Secondary cleaners mount just after the head pulley where the belt is flattest, positioned close enough to return removed material to the main material stream rather than creating spillage beneath the conveyor.

Start with application material characteristics, belt speed, and available clearance.
Premium blade materials built for durability and long-lasting performance.
Secondary scrapers use higher blade pressure than primary systems to remove embedded fines. Proper tensioning maintains consistent contact across the full belt width while allowing deflection for mechanical splice fasteners.
Ratchet or twist tensioners with visual indicators. Operators adjust during routine inspections based on blade wear. Suit applications with regular maintenance schedules.
Spring or pneumatic mechanisms maintain constant blade pressure as wear occurs. Initial cost is 30–50% higher but reduces maintenance labor. Recommended for continuous operations, high blade wear applications, or limited-access installations.

Inspect secondary scrapers every 30–90 days, depending on material abrasiveness and operating hours.
Fluent supplies belt cleaner accessories to optimize performance, simplify installation, and reduce maintenance time:
Photos of the head pulley area and discharge chute help identify mounting constraints and optimal scraper configurations.
